Kanjeng Ratu Kidul

Kanjeng Ratu Kidul, the Queen of the Southern Sea of Java (Indian Ocean or Samudra Kidul south of Java island). According to traditional Javanese and Sundanese beliefs, she is the female deity (spirit) that reigning the creatures of the southern seas of Java. Se is revered in places (beaches) such as Palabuhan Ratu, Pangandaran, Parang Kusumo and Parang Tritis. The deity is revered in both Javanese Mataram and Sundanese tradition. According to Javanese beliefs, Panembahan Senopati, the founder of Mataram Sultanate met her during his ascetism practice in Parang Kusumo beach. The deity queen of Southern sea agreed to help Panembahan Senopati she become the mythical spiritual bride (consort) of series of Mataram Kings to Yogyakarta and Surakarta kingdom.
